Hervé is a visionary hotelier widely respected throughout the luxury hotel industry. He has created some of the most iconic hospitality brands, established best practices benchmarked by companies worldwide, and furthered the hotel industry for the betterment of local communities. Presently, Hervé shares his wealth of expertise with discerning companies, advising on global hospitality project development and operations.
Recently, the Chairman of the board for Capella Hotel Group, including The Patina Hotel Brand. Previously served as president of the board, partner, president, and chief operating officer (COO) of Ocean Club Group. In this role, he developed ultra-luxury branded residential and resort enclaves in the Dominican Republic.
He was COO of the Qiddiya Investment Fund and president of operations, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia. In that capacity, he oversaw operations for the world’s preeminent destination for entertainment, sports, and the arts: a massive development including an amusement park, racetrack, golf courses, hotels, and residences. While working for the PIF, Hervé also supported the creation, positioning, and development strategy for a new global luxury residential and hotel brand. He also served on the Global Advisory Board of Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Hervé’s legacy began as one of the four founding partners of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. He is proud that The Ritz-Carlton has received numerous awards and was the first and only hotel company to be twice honored with the U.S. Department of Commerce Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. As president for eight years and COO for ten years, he established the vision and led the company’s global growth strategy. Significant achievements during his presidency include maintaining the top-ranked position of the J.D. Power North America Luxury Hotel Guest Satisfaction Studies. The Ritz-Carlton was named the Most Trusted Hotel Brand by Entrepreneur magazine and was a Founding Partner of IMPACT 2030, a global initiative that unites companies as a force for good and advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Hervé’s responsibilities as president and COO encompassed more than 175 properties worldwide. He also oversaw brand extensions into yachts, residences, destination clubs, and a leadership center, as well as the ultraluxury brand Ritz-Carlton Reserve. In addition, Humler served as president and COO of St. Regis- and Bulgari-branded hotels, resorts, and residences.
A charismatic advocate for employees and guests, he helped create the legendary Ritz-Carlton Gold Standards and the motto “We are ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen,” all of which have inspired companies around the world to empower their employees to deliver service excellence, while creating a workplace where diversity is valued. His hands-on leadership and passionate speaking style have inspired employees globally to deliver the finest personal service and achieve their career aspirations.
Hervé has been awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, presented to individuals who have made it their mission to share their wealth of knowledge, boundless compassion, unique talents, and selfless generosity with those less fortunate. A testament to his ongoing legacy, this iconic award is memorialized in the United States Congressional Record.
